A Little of History

In 1917, Mr. Antonio Cipriano - famous personality of Poconé - says that the area, then known as "Retiro Velho", was a 'stronghold', already owned by the Silva Campos family.

 

There are records that in the 1920s, the place where the lodge is situated today was known as 'Retiro do Alegre', where the farmhouse was built in 1963, after the great Fazenda Rio Claro was divided, when Luiz Vicente da Silva Campos, born in 1929, received the area of ​​his father and, in the 90s, turned it into a lodge called Pousada Pouso Alegre, which is still managed by the family.

The Farm

Occupying an area of ​​8000 hectares that covers various physiognomies of the Pantanal vegetation, the farm where the Pouso Alegre Lodge is located is privileged with abundant population of mammals, like tapirs, anteaters and deer, among many others, besides hundreds of species of birds, due to its perfect state of preservation, using ancient cattle ways as base for the current trails of access to this priceless natural collection.

Accommodation

The facilities are simple and comfortable, in harmony with the landscape and farm life. There are 24 apartments built in masonry, with air conditioning, ceiling fan, screened windows, bathroom with electric shower.

With 2, 3 or 4 single beds, according to their dimensions, the apt. also have shelves, small table, and chair.

Note: we have an apartment designed for wheelchair users.

Restaurant

The meals, in the opinion of guests, are a highlight of the place, elaborated joining typical dishes of the region with other trends of Brazilian cuisine.

Served in a comfortable dining room, the food is prepared in a semi-industrial stainless steel kitchen, meeting all safety and hygiene standards.

Regulation

Pouso Alegre operates within a set of rules aimed at improving its efficiency and enhancing the quality of the guest experience:

  • During check-in, it is up to the guides to check and inform guests of the lighting, air conditioning, fan and electric shower of the apartments.
     

  • BREAKFAST from 07:00 to 8:30h.
     

  • LUNCH from 12:30 to 13:30h.
     

  • DINNER from 19:30 to 20:30h.
     

  • Access to the bar's drinks is regulated by the visitors themselves, opening a line with their name and marking their consumption in the notebook available at the counter.
     

  • For room cleaning and change of bed linen and towels, request and leave key at reception.
     

  • Horseback or boat rides must be booked at least 1 day in advance.
     

  • It is forbidden to use audio equipment or to produce noises that disturb the fauna or the guests.
     

  • The signposting of trails and roads must be observed and obeyed, also regarding the allowed access hours.
     

  • At check-out, leave the key outside the door of the apt.
     

  • The damage of equipment such as electric shower or other, when caused by misuse, will be charged separately.

The Rincão Weir and neighboring woods are a meeting point of several trails spreading along the farm fields.
